Help identifying engine cooling

Can someone help me identify how water cooling is achieved on this, i can't see a raw water filter or stopcock anywhere.

The water comes in through the leg!

So is there a strainer that i should check?

- through the black hose into the brownish metal housing on the engine front (actually the impeller pump), further on into the metal tube, the engines water jacket and out via the exhaust manifold that blend it with exhaust fumes and send it out via the drive. While inside the water jacket, the water is circulated by the internal pump (as in a car).

No strainer in your pic.

If you want to fit one it should be on the suction side of the impeller pump to prevent filling the bilge with water in case of a leak in the strainer.

It will have a screen on the water inlets on the leg.
