Help identifying aluminium boat built in the UK early 1960

Hi,

I'm currently restoring an old aluminium boat that I believe was built in the UK early 60ies. It used to be an expedition vessel for scientist high up in the arctic. There are no markings as to identify the designer or builder. But from old pencil drawings on the interior of the hull I believe it was designed metric to be 8 meter.

Any clues where to start in order to track down designer or builder?

Firstly the Pictures are not working. I did however track them down. They remind me of a yard that used to build boats in lowestoft, built some big yachts but also did some one off commisions in Aluminium. And the hull seems familiar. Brooke Marine

More details here, click on the small boat building division. A few years ago I looked at buying the 30ft Ocean Pirate.....but it was a money pit!

Not my spexialist area though! Cracking little ship and you seem to be doing a great Job. Can we get more pictures please.

I looked at some of the pictures on that web page and I'm tempted to believe it might have been built by Brooke Marine! I found one boat that has the same kind of keel:) I've sent an email to Lowestoft Maritime Museum to see if they recognize it.

Anyone else having problems with the pictures?

Just received an answer from Lowestoft Maritime Museum. They have no records of this boat.

Any other ideas?

If you Google "Arctoceras boat", many results suggest this was used as an expedition vessel by Cambridge University in the mid-late 70's. (Supported by 'Cambridge' on the vessel in picture 1?)

Unfortunately the journals linked to are paid content, but if you are anywhere near their library, they're probably available for non-removable reference? Perhaps a phone call or email enquiry might yeild some more info as a starting point?
 
Albatross Marine ( who built the Albatross runabouts ) built a 24' light alloy cruiser but I dont think it was like the boat in your photo, or if they built any bigger. Will try to find a photo.

is a water jet or prop system ?

Alldays built some military boats with WJs, and well as building Morning Cloud IV.
