It is reported in Yachting Monthly's News column that 'yachts can now be armed'. Another set of competences for the 'zero to hero' RYA Yachtmaster-Commercial?

minimi.jpg

Additional to the Diesel Engine Course do we now have the SA-80, the Minimi LMG and the Light Support Weapon modules? Would that include blowing up the Yachting Monthly Test Boat?

Will the SBS have a stand at the London Boat Show? Will the local yacht club's Winter Lecture programme now include a Close Quarter Battle evening...? Can we expect to see the likes of the Moody Owners' Association ladies made-up wearing 'green/black' cam cream?

Don't get your hopes up too quickly, the article also says

"Shipping companies and owners who use armed guards must submit a detailed counter-piracy plan to the Department for Transport in advance.

Under the changes, any PSC employed to put armed guards onboard UK ships will require authorisation from the Home Office for the possession of prohibited firearms.

The Home Office and police will carry out checks into the PSC and its personnel before an authorisation is granted.

You must have a big anchor to need a windlass like that. What type do you use and why?

Packing heat and nearly a Voldemort Anchor.

Borrowed my Piece off a Type 23 (Duke Class).
The big windlasses are of course necessary to handle the breakout load of the Voldemort pattern anchor which I was going to buy to match my big wind sucker - I dare not speak it's name of course or the resulting thread will sink my ship but I feel that I am perhaps slightly oversized on the chain - does the panel have any advice on that?
And as for my lovely teak decks, well the bolts for the new deck furtniture caused unsightly rust marks on the teak and every time I let fire a salvo unsighly soot covers the woodwork - anyone know any way to maintain teak decks by any chance? Or should I just buy an AWB if the panel could recommend one man enought to take the weight of the artillery?

Could you not convert the much frowned upon bowthruster into something quite er assertive?

Most AWBs seem to have the basic hardware installed already, just a question of elongating the tubes, popping along to your local Arab/Israeli/Ruski/SomethingStanny diy store and buying the torps-guided of course.

And just think of the Youtube royalties per 'hit':)

Robin Plectrum, m'dear.

I note from my perambulations around the foraminae, er, formica, er, other parts of the page that there is quite a fan-club for Aldi Caravan Cleaner. As it would appear you have a floating caravan, it would also appear that you may now have an answer.

Should that be not quite what you had in mind, let me suggest - as one alternative - a time-honoured, traditional technique straight from the pages of Classic Boat's 25th Anniversary Edition.

Holystone and seawater......

Awrabest with the elbow grease..... :D
