This evening as I switched the autohelm Navcenter 300 gps on my boat a prompt came up asking to insert a codelock 4 digit number, yesterday is was working fine, This has happened to me also last week on the depth display but by inserting the factory default 0000 I managed to make it work, but not the navcenter, I was googling about and it seems that sometimes this happened unexpectedly on the ST50 systems. I know this is a security feature in case of theft, but htis is driving me crazy as I cannot use my one gps, any ideas how I can bypass the code or whatever to use my gps? 0000 does not work.

I used to have one of these and I set it up so that the codelock was not needed. Possibly your unit needs to be reset. Its in the manual how to do it. Unfortunately I no longer have mine and the manual went with it.

If you don't have a manual, it can be downloaded from the raymarine website www.raymarine.com and follow the link - Owner's Manuals

Hope this helps

Just thinking about it again, it could be a sign that the internal battery on the Navcenter has gone as these hold the data stored in the unit. These need to be replaced after a number of years but it seems to be a dealer job.

I had mine done and it was fairly expensive, not helped by the fact that Raymarine no longer support these units and the dealers have to source batteries elsewhere. Its not just an open up and replace job but the battery needs to be soldered and fixed in place. Worth checking with you local Raymarine dealer.

If the on board battery does need replacing, (life is qouted at 5 years) then it is a tagged lithium cell where the tags are fixed to the PCB. It can be changed DIY, (I've just done mine), but its a bit delicate. PM me if you need further details battery numbers etc.

If the Codelock has been activated, there is a special ST50 control head for the purpose of resetting, erasing and changing the code lock numbers. Your local dealer may have one, the company I work for (in Scotland) has one and we regularly unlock systems that have gone a bit awry! If you need further info, please PM me. SP

Dear davewarburton this is the navcenter 300 model not 500 and it seems it can't be reseted to factory defualt as the 500, atr least I cannot find any info on the manual.

If the whole lot is connected on seatalk, then unlocking one unit will usually release the rest.

If the 300 is still locked, the suspect the battery and might need a dealer to unlock it afterwards!
