Help, anyone got the ability to convert a .dc CAD file

I have been redrawing the Ray Sand chart based upon soundings taken last week but have been hit by gremlins in the software.

My usual practice is to draw charts using DesignCAD which produceds .dc files and then print it into a PDF for posting on the website. Somewhere I have a serious gremlin that is producing a PDF file that is enormous (by PDF standards) and will not open. Despite reloading both programmes the problems persist.

It would be helpful if anyone could try printing the .dc file as a PDF please. Could you PM me with an e-mail address and I ping over the .dc file

I can handle most cad file formats but .dc is unfortunately not one of them

Can you save/export the file as a .dxf (Autocad Exchange Format)?

My copy of TurboCAD says it can open DesignCAD drawings (read only)
I can give it a go tomorrow evening if you want.

Reduce the scale/ resoloution in cad before you export it.

Or you could try putting a box around the image before you export it, sounds daft but worked for me when I first started using Acad 12 and had the same problem.

Or you could use screen capture in a graphics program.

I've sent the file to Clive but I'll try what you say. The problem is with the Print command rather than the Export one. Tks

Thanks Brigantia. He can handle the 'original' file so with luck it will work. I rather fear that there is some inbedded nastiness in the file in which case I will have to completely re-draw the chart. Trouble is I don't know what caused the nastiness and don't know how to avoid repeating it. I am keeping my fingers crossed!

If that is the prob, it might be worth trying exporting the file to .dxf and then importing the dxf into a new .dc file. I've solved such probs in the past that way - you may lose some of the formatting, layer info etc. but could save a lot of time over starting from scratch

Well I get a PDF that way but it drops the colour and arbritarily some contour lines! But it's progress. I think I need some Star Trek bio filters on my transporter. I think the problem lies in the use of a user defined hatching for mud.

Clive. Got it thansk, e-mail sent. It's the best so far but it has lost some details and I would like to assure you I did not pick those colours!!!!
