Hello all,I've just joined this forum and have been invited to give a brief summary of boating to-date, so here goes:Started in 1995 with a Falcon 23, single V8 petrol, went broke after 6 months of refuelling, cruising limited to the Solent. Then purchased a new Fairline Targa 29, great boat, a good few channel crossings and the beginnings of exploring France and the Channel Islands. Then moved up to a Fairline Phantom 38, again bought new and continued with Normandy and Channel Islands plus venturing UK further West and East. Joined quite a number of MBM trips in the days they were run by Kim Hollamby, Tom Gregory and Paul Berger, brilliant fun and achieved exactly what they set out to do in filling us with more confidence and sharing expereinced with others (and rather too many beers!). Kim remains a friend to this day. These first three boats were co-owned with some good friends. The partnership worked really well but, in 2000 we decided we had to have a boat each so part exchanged one Fairline P38 for two Princess 40's at the 2000 London Boat Show. I took delivery of mine in July 2000 (all but the Falcon have been named "Tallulah"). My wife and I cruised some 10,000 nm (800 engine hours) in the P40. Several trips to Holland followed and we spent the whole of the 2006 summer with the boat in Holland (flying back for work of course). In 2006 we made the big decision and ordered a new Princess 50, this is the current "Tallulah" and we celebrated her first birthday last week. Having ceased work last September, we are now planning a summer of trips. Normandy in June, Channel Islands and Brittany in July and West Country in August. If anyone wants to join in - do let me know.We also charted a yacht (Bavaria 37) last year in Greece (my wife having declared at the 2007 London boat show, where our new P50 featured as one of the display boats, that she would like to learn to sail!). We enjoyed this a lot and are repeating the experience later this year in the Ionian (again) although we've concluded that Sailing in UK waters is probably not for us.
