Dear Mr. Chox,

We were sorry to hear of your decision to give up the cruising life, but are pleased to inform you that we have managed to sell your boat for you, from its berth in Lagos marina. The sale price was 2 cases of Sagres beer (out of sell by date), 4 dried salt cod and 453 euros in small change.

Under separate cover, please find our bill for professional services, 2 cases of Sagres beer, 4 dried salt cod and 1453 euros. Please send the outstanding balance of 1 000 euros to:

Flybynight & Shifty Lda,
Mediadores de Barcos,
Birvidik,
C17
Marina de Lagos
Portugal.

Well, that cannot be right - I bought it last week from Bilgewater Algarve and their brokers Grabbitt and Runn. In fact, I am living aboard right now. Next thing you will be telling me there is an outstanding mortgage on it!!

Well the price of everthing else on a boat is outstanding so why not the mortgauge but I think this post is in bad tast and risks causing upset so might I politly request it stops here?

For Roly_Vola. Clue: Look at the bios, all three yachts are in Lagos. Politely suggest you try moderating elsewhere.

Surely anything involving salt cod must be a bit fishy....?

Best thing about being back in the UK is that there is no smell of fish here at all. Also, you can buy Super Bock in Tesco! Worst thing, it's dark all the time.

Trust all is well on pontoon C...

Bob - I was worried about the rather synical context of the post! thought you may have had a personel experience!

Yes I had loads of people pointing out the article - I must send it to the new owners - who seem to spend all their summer inside the artic circle - no wonder they wanted a lid on the cockpit.

Hopefully I am planning to retire in 2 years, so the choice of another boats looms - thinking of a Westerly Oceanlord...... or another Victory....

Anyway - get your blog up to date - its has been a great travel intinery and entertainment.

Dear Mr Bobnewbury,

May I take this opportunity of thanking you for your quick and efficient service.

I must confess that I am slightly dissapointed with the sale price and consider that 4 cases of beer might have been more appropiate. As for the sell by date this is not really an issue as I have developed quite a taste for dodgey beer during our recent business meetings on board your own vessel.

Regarding the outstanding balance of 1000 euros I consider this good value for money and wish to extend my wholehearted appreciation and gratitude to you by way of inviting you and your very good lady wife to our empty berth next week. I will crack open a whole 500cc Tin of Sagres and provide individual straws.

I look forward to your reply

Your obedient servant

Mr Chox
