I've broken it. Or to be accurate one of the club members helping hoist my mast has broken it. The bit that has given way is the anchor light where the lugs have broken off. Looks as if the base is OK

Questions:

1/ does anyone know if the top part ( the tricolour) will fit directly into the base socket so that I can forget the anchor light which isnt best placed at the masthead anyway. Yes I know I should have checked before putting the mast up but when the moorings officer is wanting to move the crane onto another boat ................ :) So now the lamp is on the ground and the socket is on top of the raised mast.

2/ anyone know if hella do spares and indeed who deals in hella lamps

3/ any poster replaced a hella with an led light and got the old one sat on a shelf in the garage? willing to sell?

Just in case it makes a difference the light is I guess the original placed on my boat when built in 96.

I would replace it with an LED alternative.
If its difficult to do that with mast in place consider fitting LED pulpit mounted lights. Although the tricolour is higher which is a slight plus offshore, ( but drawback close to land), the main advantage of a tricolour was its reduced power consumption compared with 3 (or2) globes for lower mounted lights. This advantage is not relevant now we have LED
As you noted lower mounted anchor lights are much better.

An LED "bulb" in a tricolour is not a great option IMHO the colour and cut off angles are not right. Given that its broken i would not invest much time and money in trying to fix it, but its your boat :) .In an anchor light an LED conversion creates less problems much, but that would be better located lower
