many thanks to all of you i bought the m.g as a bare hull and fitted it out incuding balast the preious owner had put in some ballast but it was an unknown quantity but not a lot so i added 1.25 tons ballast should be 1.6tons but i am told that ballast in such a boat will only alter its stiffnes. and yes it would help to find an m.g.30 owner it is this quest that led me to this foram
