The above is part of today's BBC forecast for Solent and Christchurch Bay. What does this weird wording mean? How are we to compare it with today's BBC forecast for Cowes showing light cloud and no rain?

Ronnie Barker's forecast: "And now for the weather, the sun'll be killing'em in Gillingham, choking in Woking, dry in Rye, cool in Goole and if you live in Lissing Down, you'd better take an umbrella."

IIRC it's a fairly automated forecast with no real human intervention.

If so I wonder if it's produced by looking at the conditions now, in a few hours and then setting them into a template that has the word becoming in it.

As for the discrepancy, who knows. I have seen it myself and did raise it on here. Lots of comments that floated ideas of additional shelter so wind lower and different. However that doesn't explain why the coast and see forecast are showing difference between sunshine and rain.
