We had a short sail on the Hanse 31 on the Try-a-boat at the SBS.

She had a self tacking jib. All very easy. no need for the crew to get all sweaty grinding winches etc.

But how do you heave to in a MOB situation?

Also - why was there only 1 sailing boat on the try-a-boat again this year?
Don't any other manufactures want us to try there boats?

to heave to you'll have to haul the jib to windward with another rope led to a winch - if you were worried you could perhaps have two permanent lines fitted which could be winched in if necessary, but they might get in the way.

Try a boat

I hadn't realised there was only one sailing boat in this section. That is disappointing - someone is missing a trick.

There was, of course, the Aventura 28 weekender cat, but I appreciate many people don't regard multihulls as proper sailing boats.
