I'm buying a Westerly Berwick, and am looking to fit heating to it. Ideally a unit in the engine bay, fed by diesel tank, but willing to look at other options. Also would like it to be reasonably quiet as I will have young children aboard who may be sleeping in the evening.

Is an Eberspacher likely to be the best solution or does anyone have alternatives I should consider?

Propex heaters that run on gas are worth a look. A lot cheaper to buy for the same amount of heat, but the trade-off is higher running costs. They use a bit less electricity than Eber/Wabasto/Mikuni doesel heaters as it only takes a few sparks to light the gas, rather than a glowplug, but I couldn't say if it's significant.

If I find a good second hand diesel heater, I won't say no, but it's the Propex that's on my wishlist.

I currently have two AT3500s refurbished and ready to go, ideal output for that vessel. Quiet if properly installed and along with the AT5000, one of the most reliable heaters ever made.

I had a Mikuni MY30? in our Berwick. Worked well and quite large enough. I mounted it in the engine compartment, put a T junction in the existing diesel pipe after the filter and cut a hole from the engine compartment into the locker for circulating air feed pipe. I think the AT3500s are about the same size.

If you are based down south or the south west, give Toby Haig at Keto Marine a call. He is a Webasto fitter/dealer and appears to have excellent reputation on here. He fitted our unit and has done other work on our boat and does a very neat and professional job.
