Looking for tips on winterising the Volvo 2010 engine over the winter, in particular, trying to avoid the freezing of any residue water in the seawater cooled sections of the engine - have heard of people pumping anti freeze through or are there thermostatically controlled heaters that you can buy?

I run my 1GM with the inlet pipe dipped into a bucket of fresh water and antifreeze before the first frosts strike, leaving the block filled with mixture until recomissioning. OTOH, I did absolutely nothing for the first ten years of boat ownership, and never suffered any damage due to frost. Neglect, degradation due to age and rust, oiling up of rings, water in the head due to anti siphon failure, sea water in through the tank destrying the pumps, but never freezing.
The other good tip, if you've not heard it, is to lift the decompressor and turn the engine over while spraying WD40 in through the air intake, to coat the steel bits with a film of oil. You may need three hands to do this.
