Hi,
on Dragoon we have a mains electrical element as part of the calorifier.
This works fine except that it's really easy to leave the element on and it gets forgotten about (so costing money, as well as the fact that I don't really like leaving such an item running for long periods whether I'm on the boat or away).

I've seen timers in hotels (especially in Sweden) that can be used to provide electricity to items (e.g. irons or showers) for a limited period only. These are usually of the wind-up type with a max setting of say 60minutes.

Does anyone know where these can be bought in the UK? I've tried a couple of local outlets and Maplins on-line but so far only turned up more conventional 7-day timers.

Cheers,
Paul

tlc-direct.co.uk sell an "electronic boost" controller that after you press the button, power stays on for 30,60 or 120 mins....£19.90 + vat.

or a remote timer needing a separate switch (fits on a std 1 gang 20mm box) for £16.95 + vat

I've seen the wind-up ones too, but not for sale here recently.

Thanks Andy. I have to say it (the Electrisave Emersion heater booster) looks perfect! Thanks for your help, I think I'll get one of those on order.

Cheers,
Paul

I have to add TLC-Direct have an amazing next day service. I ordered the part at 10.30 pm the night before and it was delivered by courier at 11.00am the following morning. That's quite something!

In any case, all fitted and working. This should stop people leaving on the hot water!

Cheers,
Paul
