Can anyone make a recommendation for am 11m sports cruiser.

Do you need a heater/dehumidifier of just a de humidifier? Anyone used a model that did the job for a boat this size?

Also wanted something for the engine bay – should this be just a heater or a heater dehumidifier? Any one know a good un?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Don't know of a combined unit.

I have always used a de-humid for the boat, with greenhouse tube heaters activcated by remote thermostats. Keeps the boat dry and stops freezing.

However, for the engine bay, a dehumid would be useless you block the air intakes. All I do is instal more heaters, having done a full winterisation.

Make sure the dehumid is able to drain overboard (eg via a sink) otherwise it will fill its tank and stop!

I use a combined Heater/Dehumidifier because dehumidifiers wont dehumidify at very low temps, most efficient between 2 and 5 deg C (according to the booklet). It is a DeLonghi unit £199 at Costco's. Works brilliantly as a heater when we are on the boat also, set the temperature and it cuts in/out very silent running. As we use the boat all year round you can leave bedding etc out without fear of any sign of dampness. Its great during very damp weather no condensation or anything at all when you wakeup in the mornings. It will take water out of damp covers, wet clothing, wetsuits left hanging in the cabins or head, out of bilges, anything (dehumidifying obviously). I set it for +5 deg C and 50% humidity and leave all cabin doors, wardrobe doors bilge hatches open.
When you first put it in and run it it will fill the container up within 2x days then fills the container up every fortnight or so. Stand it over the sink to start with, with the drain pipe that comes with it dangling in the sink. The water it produces is deionized so is perfect for the batteries.
Re engine bay: I run a 200 Watt thermotube with a frost stat set for about +3 deg c. I got mine from a marine heater/electronics distributor in Camberely who sell thermotubes by the foot (at about 100Watts per foot). If you cant find them PM me and I'll dig there details out.
