I posted this on YM scuttlbutt in error, so here it is where I meant it to be.

Any idea where I can get a replacement heat resistant handle apart from Pascall Atkey, who are having supply problems at the moment?

Like the one pictured here:

(What's the material? - looks and feels like plastic but doesn't get soft or that hot.)

Just found the answer to the material question on the classic boat forum - bakelite, are there any bakelite suppliers out there?

Thanks

When reading the first part of your description I thought 'Bakelight', but I'm not aware of any suppliers nowadays, I think there's some sort of elf n' safety / ethical / make it up as you go along reason for that, surely it must be something similar but modern like some sort of plastic / resin?

The last time I saw Bakelite was model aircraft my Grandad used for ground to air artillery recognition training in WW2 !

I lost the handle from the lid of my Pansy on my last boat. I found a ceramic knob that was intended as a draw pull. Fitted perfectly. No fear of it melting or catching light.

Would the handle from a Le Creuset pot work? They are readily available and reasonable price (about a fiver). They are plastic but good to gas mark 6 otherwise they have an aluminium version.
