Heat exchanger

I have removed the heat exchanger to do some other work. Now I have it at home and am thinking of the best fluid to soak it in to claen out both the salt and freash water ways. It is manaufactured by martec.
Any advise and experience?

Chuck it into the dishwasher

I had a martec unit fitted to a Yanmar 2GM20 and I always descaled it with standard central heating radiator "descaler". Worked OK for years.

I have just bought some from my local chandler, but have not yet tried it.
