Heads up; discounts at marine mega store

Just been hunting for varnish (deks olje) gorgeous stuff, going to get number 1 and number 2 this time - previously just been a number 1 girl before.

Found marine mega store cheapest BUT when went to check out, even more discount was added for THIS WEEK only. Stupid not to advertise this if u ask me.

Nothing for me to gain here (honest guv), thought I'd just mention it, as it was a bonus to me - also buying a standard horizon 270E as it is only £85 with these guys.

Found a life jacket for £32 and cheapest on any other website was £35, and that was after 2 hours sitting here.

i got an email saying that extra discount for this week only on friday and some of their prices are not bad at all. and what is the difference between number 1 & 2 with the varnish may i ask ?

There have been many reports on this forum of appalling service and delivery from these people. Good luck with it, but I wouldn't deal with them.

Alledgedly they are both the same product (a urethane varnish) but the No1 is thinned by several hundred %!!

thanks.... but no thanks, loads of reports of [--word removed--] service..... marine superstore can have my business. ordered a liferaft late last bank monday which was out of stock. delivered to my home address 8am wednesday morning. superb service

I hope it works out - wish I'd asked first too. Never used them before.

Deks olje (according to the web) No. 1 is the oil type stuff which soaks into the wood - one is supposed to thin the first coat to really allow it to soak in.

No 2 is an optional top coat of varnish.

Both are UV resistant as I understand it.

But as a previous posted states - it may be a marketing swindle, but I do know Number one has really done a good job for over 2 years on my garden furniture (which I used to simply oil every 6 months)

I love it. But there may be other cheaper types which do the same thing; I simpy haven't come across them yet.
