I have watched several of Timothy West's canal programmes and I am always surprised at how often he bumps into other boats or the bank

i dont think he does the whole trip, just the local filming bits. Boar had delivery crew rather like Dimblebys Landy around England

Tim is a lovely chap and he and Pru have done an awful lot for the canals but he's not, with the best will in the world, the most competent boat handler I've ever met!

I think he does actually have CEVNI, if I recall correctly he had to do it for one of the programmes

I was impressed with the inside of the pumping stn, we went past it again last summer. I would have just loved to see it working

In the regular clip of Pru getting pushed into the tree branches, Tim chuckles & hold the tiller appearing to turn to starboard back into them.

I doubt that would have been deliberate, I'm pretty sure that despite decades of boating he still doesn't instinctively know which way to turn the tiller. He often steers the wrong way and then has to correct it when he realises, it's the cause (I think) of a lot of the bumps and knocks

Never Canal boated, but Saturday afternoons on the Broads is always good watching... and they're GRP boats!
