Hi

I changed the joker valve on our 2 year old Jabsco manual toilet when the boat was out of the water. I checked that the valve I put in was identical to the one I took out. Now the boat is in the water again would'nt you know that the heads leak at the bottom of the pump. With water in the bowl it leaks slowly from the base of the pump, where the base valve gasket goes. When you pump it water gushes from the discharge flange. I have taken it off and tried reseating it several times but there seems to be gap at the back where the discharge pipe meets the flange which I cant seem to get shut. Anyone any ideas on reseating the gatkets/flange and pipe?.

No limp jokes/puns/alliterations please, already had all those from wife.

sorry mate there is no easy answer, you just have to do it right!!

I have found that it is easier to get everything aligned and tightened with the hose off and then offer up the hose Its another crap design but you have to live with it. Make sure that the joker flange is flat in its seating before tightening up.

When I went to change mine, I used a joker valve which was aboard when I bought the boat. It was identical to the real thing, except that the raised ring was slightly thinner, and therefore didn't make a proper seal. Check that you have the proper valve for the job.

Hi
Thanks I will try that. It is obviously a common problem as careful rereading of the maintenance instructions mentions poor seating unless the outlet pipe is "not leveraged" under both joker valve and inlet valve replacement. And it looked such a simple job too.
