Hi all.

I want to replace both the outlet and inlet pipes to my heads. I hate using those wire type hoses...too inflexible. Are there are better more flexible alternatives that anyone knows off?

Yes!

It does have a wire reinforcement, but it's way more flexible than the standard white stuff and slips on and off the fittings with far less fuss.

In addition, it's supposed to be much more resistant to smells penetrating through the wall. The only real test is time, and I've only had mine installed for two years, but certainly so far, so good. JFM over on the motorboat forum specified this stuff for his several-million-quid baby superyacht, and he is a man famous for his attention to detail in choosing products so if it's good enough for him then it's good enough for me.

Yesterday I ordered 5 metres of butyl sanitation hose from ASAP. I'm now awaiting delivery. It's expensive but supposed to be the dog's b......s.

As you say, anything must be better than than rock-hard wire-wound plastic stuff we both have at the moment.

I used some fancy anti-odour stuff when I replaced the inlet and added a syphon break. I've not had trouble with reinforced hose, as long as you heat it up in hot water before use.

Saniflex premuim sanitation hose (not their cheap PVC one) is butyl and a fiver less per metre than ASAP from Hoses direct, very flexible and oudor resistant, it is spiral wound, but it really needs to be to support bends without kinking as the material is quite soft.

In Turkey I could not get ASAP brand but found that Vetus hose was good and much easier to get onto fittings than the local brands.

Yes, the Vetus butyl one was good too, the main thing is to use butyl stuff rather than PVC, it all handles better and is far less permiable, personally, all the brands of butyl stuff I have used are much of a muchness and all good.

The Saniflex Premium hose is perhaps cheaper because it's SBR rubber, rather than butyl. Good, but not as good as butyl, which has less permeability.

Something to be aware of is that the outside diameter of the ASAP butyl hose is significantly larger than the white stuff and you need to be very careful with the bend radius as it can crush if too tight. Although it is pretty flexible, I had real problems fitting it into the space available. That said, really pleased with the end result.
