Just refitting our F&C 44 and wanting to replace the headlinings.
Old ones 3mm ply with vinyl covering. Ply panels delaminated or just plain rotten in places + 30 years old!!. All panels held up with hardwood battens on all 4 sides (after a light sanding and revarnish these will be as good as new).
Thinking of using 'Foamex' type board (used for signs etc.) instead of ply panels and then covering this with new vinyl headlining material after making cutouts for light fittings etc.
Anyone used this approach?( I figure plastic will perhaps be cheaper than decent quality marine ply).
Any condensation issues?
Any glue issues in warmer climes??
Should I also put in a layer of reflective material (e.g. Aluminium foil) against the inside face of the GRP coachroof (i.e. above the headlining panels to act as an additional barrier against fierce sun and heat).
