Enjoy the civilisation? while youre there and take a few lessons in gujurati, which will help.
Oh and dont forget to sample a world famous Birmingham Balti while you're there.
Which part of the W. Mids are you going to??

Ordinarily I'd be happy to meet up with you, but as I'm at Gludy's place for the weekend in Wales a bit tricky.
If you're looking for something to do, then Warwick and Stratford on Avon (about 20 miles south) are good bets.

If you are interested in museums 'n stuff the The Birmingham science museum is well worth a visit. I think the Birmingham ferris wheel is still there (similar to the London Eye) and dont forget the new bull ring centre.
If your after any upholstery material for the boat, the Birmingham rag market
is a very good source and worth a visit.
If you're into Jewellery then there is the B'ham jewellery quarter to go to, with loads of shops and small manufacturers....fake rolex sir??

There's actually loads to do in and around the area.

Only thing vaguely boaty really is the canal basin, and the Birmingham caravan and boat show is on soon at the NEC, but only one hall of boats, and mostly inland anyway, none of the major chandlers or electronics people have had stands there in the past.

Enjoy your stay

Steve.

Thanks Steve for the great reply.
I don't have a clue where in Birmingham i am, but that ferris wheel thing is right outside my hotel here.
And the view from my room window, is a canal basin with about a dozen or so boat. We are staying at the Hyatt.
What is the new Bull Ring Centre?
Don't know about the Balti, but last night we ate at the Shogun Teppan-Yaki Japanese Restaurant which was very good, and tonight we are booked for The Thai-Edge Restaurant.
Im only down for a few days business, so thats no problem about meeting up, maybe next time.

Cheers

Alistairr.
