I believe that the head gasket on my Yanmar 3gm30f has failed. The coolant level has dropped and there appears to be oil in it. I have had a couple of unbelievable quotes to do it ranging from £650 to £850 plus Vat so I'm going to do it myself. Having previously stripped and rebuilt a couple of Norton twins in the past the job should be relatively straightforward. The big dilemma is do I use a genuine head gasket at £80 or so or a pattern one at half the price? and if anyone has done one before have you any good tips or pitfalls to be aware of. Finally does anyone have any reccomendations for a engineering workshop with crack testing facilities and head skimming machinery.
