A few years back I used to work with Haverhill welder/generaters in the 5 to 10 kva range, these had a slipper ring system with quite large copper carbon brushes, probably 10 x 20mm sectional size x 25-30mm long. mounted in pivoting brass holders which were mounted on pivot posts.
The opposing brushes had a spring attached between them to effect good contact on the comutator rings.
I am now trying to find a set of these brushes and holders in order to make up a slipper ring annode system for my propshaft, something similar to the MG Duff system which I can not afford.
Have any of you come across these welders/gennies, or know where I could get a set of these brushes and holders? Thanks.
