Nice to see featured among the majority of articles on sailing and sailing and more sailing with a bit of racing sailing thrown in for balance, a bit about motorboating, examining the possible attractions to the average family man looking for bit of adventure together with wife and kids.
It mentions the bright and spacious interiors of the boat and the advantages of doing a RYA class or two by way of preparation.
It does not appear to mention anywhere where to get the 930.000E for the boat featured in the article or the 10K to moor it or the small oil well need to run it.
The RYA courses mentioned probably cost more than some peoples boats.
Perhaps next month will feature a Colvic 25 with Perkins and how to service your Porta -Loo.?
No wonder yachties think we are all minted. :)

That is very funny oldgit:D
I think it every time I read it, I guess the clue is the letters RYA

Have frequently heard critics complain of a bias towards sailing and a lack of coverage regards motorboating which is understandable as suspect the vast majority of RYA members are yachties and probably very interested in the competitive world of dinghy racing etc.
The RYA also actively promote the hobby to get youngsters involved, which to me is blooming marvelous.
However the only representation of motorboating that the organisation appears to recognise is a fairly well heeled family( tell me if you see otherwise) enjoying the benefits of boating in a 50ft million euro boat almost certainly moored in a marina somewhere in the Golden Triangle around the IOW.
Is that really going to entice in joe public to motorboating or alienate most of the population by reinforcing the popular image of the world of gin palaces and those who occupy it.?

I guess that answer is in our own hands, there are some really good writers and photographers in this parish. I’m sure they would appreciate any contribution

This implies that you have recently decided to join the RYA. Knowing your penchant for being an archetypal scrooge this began the question - why?

What a delightful old sceptic you are............
Actually due to our highly optimistic plans to travel beyond Sheerness next year,we needed to revalidate our ICC, Cheaper to join RYA as members and renew .

Is a prop strike keeping you awake at night.....has it cost you a pretty penny due to someone else's negligence......the RYA legal team are on your side.....join today for a free no obligation telephone consultation.....no win no fee......we do not take into account any previous prop strikes.......the RYA understands it is always someone else's fault.....:):)

Not cheaper, the same price. I've just renewed my ICC without joining, as I really couldn't see the benefit of a year' free membership.

Would have a go...but what would really keep me awake at night would be finding the time to spend all that compensation.
Mind you, did read an PR puff in well respected boating magazine about how much fun is to be had in a.......

.........MONTE CARLO 5 entry level starter boat
Beneteau Power Boats
From 565 300 €*(VAT excluded) minor items such as steering wheel extra !

Would the "compo" for a couple of ancient dinged props and my dented pride get me one of these ?

Shame its such a awful "explosion in paint factory" ugly heap :)
