Earth shattering news of the week from the forums.
My anchor is better than yours. (but I have a rusted connector which I need the whole planet to tell me to cut the damn thing off)
My propellor is better than yours.
Barcelona is marginally a better place to get mugged than Rome when you walk round like a Brit on holiday.
Spanish food is crap.
Should I fit a holding tank, when there are probably 3 pump out stations in the whole of western europe?
Where can I get my UK crap produce in Spain.
Yawn............

That pretty much summarises it in a nutshell!
There were a few gems of interest though (to me at least).

Have you still got 'Have I got news for you' on telly? I havent seen it for about 10 years. If yes, I hope that Paul Merton and that Private Eye bloke (cant remember his name) are still causing havoc.......

Ian Hislop. Just been watching it. (Sat dish on the pontoon)New series. Jeremy Clarkson was in the chair and it was absolutely brilliant. Clarkson wanted to take the credit for the fabulous weather the UK is experiencing at the moment due to his great big carbon footprint. BTW my hobby is my 40ft boat which I have been living aboard for approx 15 years. Bored with the Med. We are presently preparing for Canaries and Brasil.

It's the internet and there are a billion places you can be rather than here. If you are bored of it, or dont like it, can I suggest you find one of them.

Having said that.... the fact that you are here, and have read all of these threads, (apparently in some detail), suggests that you find it interesting, otherwise why would you be here. If that's the case, perhaps you should reconsider knocking it.

My problem was that I couldnt undo the bolts, and I could work out for myself that cutting it off was an option.

However, every now and then, there is a simple answer to a niggling problem that someone has solved before, so it's often better to ask than make a cock up and find the simple solution after the event.

My first thoughts when I read your post were just 2 little words, but they wouldnt have been published.

have a nice day!!

I was also very interested in all the replies re your post re anchor connectors, as we are in the same metaphorical boat - allen screws have seized solid.
And it is a non-swivelling connector, similar to the type that Hylas (I think) posted a photo of recently, showing how it broke across the forks in way of the anchor.
So I am thinking about hacksawing it off.
And replacing it with a S/S double jaw rigging toggle, as Hylas suggested in one of his posts.
Although some might say 'why bother', cos it is on a 35 lb CQR.
But this CQR works well for us, never mind that it is from the middle ages.

That poster is a troll - i.e. he gets his kicks from winding people up on forums and newsgroups. Click on his name, and have a quick look at his posts.....after the first half dozen you get bored going through them as they are all of the same kind - a snide comment about a post for no good reason.

Trolls do if for kicks and they move on when starved of a response. There are several here on ybw and I have a list of trolls in various forums, on notepad, on my desktop, so when I see a boorish post like the OP's I check to see if the poster is known to me as a troll. Comes in handy every so often and putting the blighter on the list is very cathartic /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ah! The penny doth droppeth! Funny way to get yer kicks though!!

I prefer other methods, mosat of which involve boats, women or beer!

To get one's pleasure by making others unhappy is antisocial and could be a sign of an underlying Personality Disorder. Trolls, such as the OP, might benefit from trolling through the Complete List of DSM -1V codes to see whether they could benefit from a course of psychotherapy. They, their immediate families and work colleagues, and forumnites would all be better off. Meanwhile, I wish their ISPs would pull the plug /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Actually Rig Pig is quite an honour!

I dont know who this chap is, but it's time he went.

Re: How to win friends and.......

Look. The original post was only meant as dry humor. As to the comments about my previous postings which seem to have upset some people, well I thought freedom of speech and opinion was welcomed on here. The fact is I dont suffer fools gladly. When someone talks crap, I let them know. The humor was directed at some of the inane questions which seem to come from the same person who needs the trick cyclist rather than me. I have strong views on many subjects. eg I think the climate change issue has been hijacked by anarchists. I have been shouted down on here over this whenever I disagree. Anyway I have better things to do and contrary to your statements I have a wonderful circle of cruising friends with whom I socialise and communicate throught the Med. Goodbye. I am out of here for good.

Re: sad git

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if he had a good circle of friends. There was a paper on a psychology website I was reading a few months ago about some research on behaviour in internet groups. It seems that anti-social and deviant behaviour online is often seen in those whose offline behaviour is normal or rather repressed - timid people who seek a release in the anonymity of the WWW.

Most trolls, including the OP in this thread, hide behind anonymity, rather like people who write on toilet walls. If you look at the OP's bio, you will see that he gives no clue whatsoever as to his identity.
