I am looking at this boat and considring to make an offer:

http://motorboats.apolloduck.co.uk/feature.phtml?id=201903

I can get the insurance, I also have the moorings, not sure what the depth is so might be resticed to so spring tides.

Have I gone mad or being realistic?

I know swmbo will chuck me out so I will have to end up on the boat so at least it should be a comfotable one?

Tom

No, not mad Tom. Quite a big project of course! It was advertised here a while ago, at 200k, and "needs new engine". Then it dropped to 130k. In the apolloduck ad there is no mention of engine issues, so you'd need to check what engine they actually fitted, if any

If googling for it you'll find its name PERSISTANT is often misspelled PERSISTENT, so google PERSISTENT. (Actually of course PERSISTANT is the misspelling but you get my drift!)

I think you shoukd buy it and do a thread on here documenting the refit. Bon chance!

Agree with JFM. would love to see more about this boat. says its in hampshire but cant think anywhere big enough locally to have that in such a big shed!!

just superb... Go on, at this price its a great buy.It looks like it is having some nice touches done, like new teak decks etc.

Engine mentioned in yachtworld is;
Detroit Diesel 250hp. Not installed and suggest replacement.
now it states its a 135hp... I know its a chugger, but I still think for the tonnage and size this would be a little underpowered...

Also for additional momentum, and auxiliary and manoeuvring help I just wonder if a wing engine might be an idea.... or a bigger engine and a bowthruster. There I'm talking like you've already bought it. Get the deal done & then we can suggest even more ways for you to spend money! :D

First two thoughts were it's huge and second was why no photos of engine/engine room. Got to be worth a look, providing of course that you have somewhere suitable to moor her. If not then it's a waste of time............
Let us know how you get on. Btw where is she at present and who/where has the refit been done?

Still think that's a lovely boat. Go on Tom, please buy it. It would look great in the Med especially if you chopped the skylounge off to get the original look back

Check out this picture. There are TWO of them in that shed!

Scary,

I was looking at the Yachtworld ad today which claims there is no engine and that it has been striped on certain areas. Has been newly Awlgripped though and has new Teak decks, I thought it would make a stunning Med Cruiser with the Sky loungs gone....

Yes, If you have a £100k to sort her out......an amazing piece of kit!

Fantastic! I say buy it...buy it now and post updates and pics! Get rid of the gross rug and sofa in the lounge tho...eeeewwwww.

Blimming heck Tom,do hope you get on well with yer neighbours with that parked outside your back door !

lovely lovely boat, I wish I had the time and the place to finish that off, that will make a smashing boat once completed, agree with others, the top needs removing! I hope you get it, it would be superb to see its progress reported on here.

Sorry to inject some reality here but all of those who are cheerfully encouraging you to buy this moneypit wouldn't dream of buying it themselves. If you've got a bottomless bank account, you are actively seeking a divorce and you like doing endless refurbishment, then go ahead but otherwise, take a cold shower and think again. Anyway, where can you cruise in this thing? You may find a cheapish home berth but which harbours and marinas in the UK are going to be able to offer a 25m visitors' berth and how much will it cost ? And how many crew will you need?

Mike mike mike, logic and common sense have no place in this discussion as you well know. There will be no divorce when Mrs Tom sees the thing anchored in the golden light of Villefanche as the airport car drops her off by La Mere Germaine to step into the waiting tender. The thing will cruise all of the Med, then beyond. Loads of harbours there with 25m berths, and it can spend ages on anchor. It will need 2 crew + Tom.

OK, there will be endless refurbishment, can't argue with you there. But there is an endless jobs list on a new 25m Squadron, I can tell you, becuase we're all geeks so manage to find jobs to do whether they're needed or not
