By buying a Navman 4431 fishfinder with the transom mounted aquaducer, to fit to my Westerly Pageant?
According to the instructions " transom mount aquaducer not suitable for boats with propellors forward of the transom, prominent keels or displacement hulls"
I have fitted the same transducer to my Shipmate Senior, 17ft, semi bilge keel with lifting centreplate and outboard mounted on a lifting mount, with no problems with loss of signal, false depths, etc
So do you think it will be OK to fit the transom mount aquaducer onto the stern of the Pageant? The rudder doesn't extend past the transom. The transducer will be under water if its mounted at the stern just above the waterline, offset to one side, possibly on the opposite side to the exhaust.
If not an option, what other transducer can I fit for the Navman which will give speed, depth and water temperature in one unit?
Would it be worthwhile trying to fit the transducer temporarily in different positions on the transom and if so, what method for attaching it temporarily?
Thanks all, any experience you can offer appreciated.

I have one of these stuck inside the hull fixed with 'plasticine" kids modelling clay, and it works perfectly forward of the keel on a yacht.Good wintering to all! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Only the 3100 series....

Mmm, if it mounted just above the water line how will it be underwater? As mentioned previously its the disturbed water they don't like. Try a plastercine well with a bit of oil and fit the transducer temporarily to see if it works, if it does then make a 'well out of epoxy and fit the t'ducer permanently, then you can put it up in front of the keels and give a bit more warning before you hit /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
