Well Brian

Looks like we'll be relieiving you of the cup next Saturday!

Anyway. I watched the match this morning which was played in a relentless downpour with strong gusting wind.

When I looked out of my hotel window in Bristol (where I was watching England trounce the Frenchie), the sun was shining down out of a cloudless blue sky and on the drive back over to Southampton afterwards, the rolling English countryside could not have looked more beautiful in it's autumn garb.

Must be difficult doing anything in that stifling heat you seem to be suffering with - what with all those nasty flies, spiders and snakes to contend with as well.

Rugby at this level is about cool heads, handling and possesion. Tries are the icing on the cake, but won't necessarily win you the game. If you want to see tries watch NZ v France playoff Thursday. Neither made the final.

Saturday next you will see a superb England team at their peak take on the Aussies on their home patch. It will definitely be a tough match, and I'm sure it will be one of rugby's greats. I wouldn't hold my breath for too many tries.

Sure possesion, forced errors and a solid defence will be the magic ingredients. Enjoy the England victory!

What ever the rest of the forum members say, it's going to be close next week. May the best team win. Lets hope it's worth watching and is a good final that will be spoken about for years to come.
AND as someone that had to do a couple of years sentence downunder.

Rugby - But not as we know it

...and I'm old enough to remember when rugby was all about scoring tries.

Sorry but if your national team is not involved - and I'm sure I just dont speak for (ahem) Scotland - rugby at this level is boring to watch.

Bring back the days of the early 70's and the Welsh Wizards. Now THAT was Rugby.

Anyone seen the poster
"Those who visit Australia, BEAT Australia" underlined with a crushed can of Fosters.
Love it!!
Why don't they skip the first half so we can thrash 'em in the 2nd half like we do with everyone else.

Brian - I distinctly remember you once saying that it never rained in Australia - I think it was around the time that the bush fires were bad near Sydney? Well - what was all that we saw yesterday?
I think you make up these hot sunny climate stories -why else would you build a stadium with a lid on it?
