Hi all

I'v broken a hatch strut . Its the type where a bar slides into a tube and is locked in position but a "clamp" nut. they were popular in the late 70s and 80s . I'v search the net but no one seems to make/ sell 'em anymore . (only gas/spring struts seem to be available these days) . Any Idea chaps ?

Cheers

I replaced mine a little while ago, I don't remember where from, but it was one of the big chandlery mail order co's.

My comment is that I wouldn't bother if I were you. The gripping method is a tube of spring metal with a split down the side that fits around the rod & grips both it & the outer tube (in theory). However the new one wasn't that springy & has to be adjusted most seasons & I have now resorted to using a short length of batten to hold the hatch part open now.

Get a car style gas/hydraulic replacement, it should be FAR better.
