any diy shop......draft excluder....but u may be better changing the system if u can to metal runners, as it slides much better and will let the water run off in the channels when your in a blow.

I thought about draft excluder, but it is much thinner than that. It's even thinner than the fluffly side of Velcro that I compared it to.

I don't need to change the runners because of leaks. There are already drainage channels and no water has come in yet.

try Houdini as we've one of their companionway hatches and its fitted with this stuff....also Eagle windows may be able to help.....

The Strip you describe sounds like Schlegel (spelling?) pile, it is used in patio doors etc to provide a draught seal and consists of a plastic backing strip which is similar to packing bands, faced with a grey pile material. The plastic strip ususally slides into a "T" shaped groove. If this is the stuff you're talking about, you could try your local double glazing firm and see if they'll let you have some off-cuts.
