Has the RYA made any progress in giving advice about recreational boating ?

Today I have had a succinct email from QHM Plymouth about Covid19 and the work of pilots, commercial vessels, and military vessels, together with procedures for reporting the state of health on any vessel, and maintaining a safe working environment on board.

Has our national authority done any work on preparing a parallel set of advice for recreational sailing or power vessels ? Or am I likely to be sunk on sight as I pass by the Longroom on my way towards sunnier climes ?

I doubt that the RYA could possibly keep up with the pace of change happening, anything they publish will be out of date within hours (and hostage to fortune if give advice which then becomes wrong and a boater gets stuck).

Also, in the absence of any specific national decrees, it will vary by location (harbour, marina etc) which makes the task unmanageable for a national authority

Personally I would suggest following what other posters are reporting from Italy / Spain / France etc and assume we may be only a few days / hours behind.

They have a H&S consideration, recreational sailors don't.

I only get the daily movements email! Clearly I miss out on all the exciting stuff.

If you let me know when you are passing the Longroom, I'll set up a division and you can slip quietly out. Passing Fort Picklecombe, well you are on your own there.

Sunnier climes are shut until further notice unfortunately.

Fair enough, but that it is all large groups with lots of face to face activity, totally different to going out on your own in a boat for a few hours on the river. I continue to hope!!
They do say toward the end that checking the local NtMs as well as current gov advice needs to be done. They give a link to a pretty comprehensive set of NtMs, Notices to Mariners | Have A Plan | Safe Boating | Safe Boating | Knowledge & Advice | RYA - Royal Yachting Association

Col Regs are a subset of safety culture, much as HSAW is, too. I am sad that you cannot see the bigger picture. Perhaps I should point out that Colregs and coronavirus both begin with C.

Does that make it simpler ?

Seems like someone from the lounge has wandered in & got lost in the arrogant & obnoxious section.

Sounds to me like a 'new' member who has much more knowledge than they should about how this place works, what was your previous name ?
Well, jest as you might, but in an earlier post, I was advised about characters in the Lounge (something I am not able to access) & this sarabande person seemed to be of the described persuasion. I am not related to Dr Who, I have no previous existances.

Digging into the current RYA advice for their centres, some activities are still OK. But no courses involving overnight stays, ashore or afloat.

Take that as you will, it's probably already out of date...
