Has the Prestige 350 flybridge been discontinued?

I have been looking around at 35-40 foot motorboats.

After looking at a few youtube clips of various boats including the Prestige 350 fly, I went to look for details on the Jeanneau site and there's no details available.

Though it's a newish model, I think it's been discontinued.

Does anyone know if this is so, and maybe why?

Cheers

They've also discontinued the 390s which seems to be sold in a different guise in the Leader brand.
The 350 came and went extremely quickly, looks like the smallest Prestige FB is the 400 which seems to fit in a little better with the larger boats in the prestige range
Theres the new Velasco, (sp?) 43 which I have been on, very nice but runs at a higher price....
So right now there seems to be a short fall in the 35-40 ft FB size range, generally in Jeanneau.
You've got the Antares range which has a 35'ish and a 40ish'
Mark Da Costa at Ancasta will know, but I believe that he is in the Med enjoying the Prestige 750 sea trials...tough life eh?

Thanks Nigel.

When new models appear, there's lots of marketing and editorial.

But when models disappear, they kind of just sneak out the door. And no one writes anything. Not even editorial.

Ps I don't think that I can afford to go into Ancasta and ask about a new Prestige, so I shall be trawling the 'used' ads.

I know, I would love to see an index in the magazines, in the same way the auto press works...model, basic tech spec, new price and production dates.
Would also be good to see an 'incoming' section so you you see when a boat is being face lifted or replaced...more of a basic listing versus what MBM used to do.

I think that the magazines are missing a trick, especially if it were SPONSORED BY A MAJOR BROKER but hey ho...what do I know about this kind of thing :)

I took delivery this summer of a Prestige 550 Fly, a very beautiful boat which I am really enjoying, and judging by the conversations I have been having with the Prestige management about it - and the amazing looking new 750 which is about to be released, I think they see their future with the market for bigger boats and the international luxury market especially in the USA; i.e. 50 foot and upwards, and will leave the smaller models to be covered by the Jeanneau range.

Hi MAFWeiss, are you loving the 550? I have a smaller sibling...I'm looking forward to getting onto the 750 at one of the shows next year. It would be good to hear your feedback on the 550, there don't seem to be many, (vocal), prestige owners around :)

Hi Nigel, yes I am loving, and and am very much in love with my 550. Indeed it has truly has changed my life! Whilst I am a total newbie to sailing, I have expended a lot of time looking at the various other models that compete with the Prestige 550. Whilst others may be better finished, the design and layout of the 550, with its marvelous airy and open salon with the gallery aft, and the exceptional large and comfortable master cabin with its dedicated entrance, make it a real joy to live on the boat. The flybridge too is splendid. My wife and I have found we can sail it comfortably on our own, and it has been a very easy boat to manoeuvre around marinas, and handles well out on the open sea.

Quibbles have been few, the main one being the sliding doors to the cockpit do not operate that well with the rubber seal keeping coming adrift. I think that the management have taken on board the need to upgrade the interior fittings and finishes - especially in comparison to the stunning range of Monte Carlo yachts (part Beneteau, the sister company to Jeanneau) - so I am sure the new 750 will be a major step up in build quality. And from what I have seen of the photos so far released, it looks to be a real winner. I am trying to see if I can get a sneak preview at the Italian boatyard in January ;-)

I am also now eagerly waiting to see what they will do next to bridge the gap between the new big boat and the 550, given the 620 is just a rebadged 60 and needs replacing. A new 650(?) may well prove to be the ideal boat for us in the future to spend more time on with family and friends, as it will allow guests just a bit more space than the 550 currently allows.

Cheers, Mark

Do you think that the manufacturers would tell the boating magazines that they were about to facelift or drop a model?

Wouldn't matter...a list of models, specs and prices, maintained would be fine..the index would just need to include an 'in production' date. The editorial can discuss incoming models and possible replacements. It works well in the auto industry and would be hard to resist from the point of view of the reader/buyer.
Theres too much, 'black hat', smoke and mirrors in the marine industry...most of it unwarranted. Getting the manufacturers on board with a data feed would be easy enough because the benefits are so obvious, my sense is that the dealers/brokers are the ones trading snake oil...I think a lot of that comes from the trade show environment, its dog eat dog and keeping punters away from other boats is a tactic well used. My experience with manufacturers is that they want good communication lines to the customer and are always keen to share information, its the sales people who get in the way...

How strange, we were just saying the same thing last night...a revamped 620s in about 4 years would suit us nicely :) We have no issues with the 500s as of yet, (a kink in a blind and a small grp spider are being dealt with), but we have only had the boat for two months/38 hours.
I think the sport cruiser/flybridge hybrids will be the next big thing....hope so because they look fantastic IMHO.

I started out with a Merry Fisher from Westways in 2008 ( before they went bust) and have moved on to a Prestige 34 since, so am also a Jeanneau man. Love the 450 and 500 layouts too, congratulations on your purchases Gents. Which Marina are you at in Falmouth Nigel?

Hi Andrew, In Falmouth Marina...Still love the 34, they have a great shape. We bought a 390s from John Elder, (westways), he went bust 1 week after handover....phew.
We come up to plymouth a fair bit, are you in QAB, I think I saw a 34 there last time we were up..

Endeavour is at yacht Haven Quay (out of QAB and turn left upriver a mile) at the Drystack. Pushing the limits some for drystack but the guys can just lift it and it works well for me as I am up in North Devon so not local to the boat. I grew up in St.Ives so am familiar with Falmouth and love going back with Endeavour. I recall school friends called Pickin who used to run the self drive hire boats out of St.Ives - any connection? Had a couple of weekends in Falmouth this year, lovely runs from Plymouth in perfectly flat sea for once!

Love the layout on your Prestige, especially the private mid ships master cabin, I am sure she is a pleasure to own. Congrats again.

Andrew

It would either be my brother or me Andrew, they were Dads boats, the red ones anyway...
I have some great memories of long summers and days lost wandering between the streets and beaches.
Dry stacking a boat that size, must get the nerves going when the fork lift wobbles!

Nigel,

Interesting! Matthew Pickin was a classmate of mine - your brother? My surname is Noall. I left St.Ives aged 19 and have settled up on the North Devon Coast near Ilfracombe, Combe Martin way. Small world!

Your right about the forklift bouncing though thankfully most of the lifting is done in my absence! I'm sure the yard guys prefer it that way too!

Regards to Matthew and Happy Boating. Will look out for your posts in future.
Andrew

Matt's my older bro', I will pass your regards on...
Let me know if you are down on the Fal any time, you should at least come down for Tall Ships at the end of August, I think they are sailing East from Falmouth when they leave; you can journey back to Plymouth with them and enjoy the flotilla...but thats probably one for another thread...
