I have been looking from November at the rate and it has been slowly getting worse and forecasters are saying it isn't going to improve much for a while

Yes that certainly popped the bounce we got from the better than expected inflation figures

I bought mine when the rate was 1.2. It was still a bargain because at the time the Italian government was toying with a punitive tax on motorboats and the seller was motivated. There's more to it than just the exchange rate. Besides, the word 'Greece' will be back in the news at some point and we'll be back to 1.4

Lucky I bought my euros ahead at 1.41 to the £ for my purchase in Belguim, I think I would be sweating otherwise

In all seriousness, I've only just bought it and have no plans to get out and secondly buyers for my boat are few and far between, potential limited in number to 1 - and I bought it. Mentally I value the boat as £0 for resale.

Perhaps if Brits aren't buying abroad it may draf the prices down further? Or do we not make up a suficient number of buyers to create this effect?

It did impact on the UK market,there are some mid sized flybridge boats new to the market very realistically priced to sell.
