Now that it look like there an leave EU vote has won ,
where doesn't that leave all the full time Liveaboard ? After all the talk and complaning about other country sailors having there boat registered under the red ensign ,
do we now go and register our boats under another country flag ?
How will our cruising charge ?
Or do we also leave the EU ?
Question question .
This isn't going to happen over night off cause but in time it going to charge the way we all cruise and not only the Liveaboard .

The major advantage the iiveaboard has over common mortals is the ability to cast off his moorings at any time and go someplace else, losing at most some months unused credit on a rented berth. The immediate future is admittedly unknown, but we can be confident that we will be able to adapt. Right??

Since we're quoting people here how about one from Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr?

"The more things change, the more they stay the same".

Lets wait for the dust to settle, after all this was just a vote and there's a lot of water to go under the keel yet.....

In common with most, I don't know what will happen. Having said that and thinking back to the VAT posts, it may be sensible if any boats resident in EC are sold, to make sure the sale is documented there rather than the UK, to maintain the VAT status within Europe. Or, am I wrong?

We are in the process of becoming Spanish residents, anyone know how to go about re flagging from Brit to Spanish???

You don't have to do that. Rules were changed a couple of years ago. Just declare the boat when you take up residence and then you will avoid the 12% matriculation tax.

And when all the fools have changed their flag, to accommodate the EU, the Greeks will leave or be thrown out.

Lots of impossible to sell stateless yachts floating around like the "Flying Dutchman"

Yeah, Things are going to change.

In the middle of the Tories finding a new leader/prime minister.....the queen will die of old age....then Charles brings in measures which upset everybody, so he never actually gets a coronation....The Scots declare UDI (remember Rhodesia), the Irish take over Northern Ireland (a peaceful coup), the Spanish walk into Gibraltar and Nigel Farage declares himself the first Emperor of England......and sells Wales to The Trump to use as a golf course

.......and then the trouble starts

There were two elderly English couples looking at properties in the window of the estate agent outside Gouvia Marina yesterday.

"Looks like prices are good, I wonder what ours is worth", one said. Better get in fast, I thought - "before the flood" as Bob Dylan might have put it.

Since we seem to be still into Bob Dylan, that great American philosopher, here is another of his quotes which might be usefull for died in the wool liveaboards in the present circumstances

"Be honest, but think like a fugitive"
