Has anyone used an electric outboard to temporarily power a sailing yacht?

I have replaced my petrol outboard with a Torqeedo 1103c.

I once usd my petrol outboard to move my 28'Twister around a marina when her diesel inboard was temporarily uninstalled and I wondered if I could do the same with the Torqeedo.

I am thinking of short distances only, eg to get through a lock or into/out of a marina.

Has anyone tried this?
 
Come to think of it, Eric & Susan Hiscock's 30-foot "WandererIII " only had a 4hp engine and went through the Panama Canal, so a 3hp Torqeedo ought to get me through a lock or around a marina! ?
 
We tried it just to try it... with a Torqeedo 1103 on the back of my Sadler 29, mounted on a modified bathing ladder, we got 3.3 knots in a flat calm. Displacement sailing yacht approx 4 tonnes. That was flat out which would last 55 mins on the Torqeedo 916Wh battery, not a huge amount but a lot better than nothing in the event of main engine failure. If you slowed down a bit to say 2.5 knots the run time pretty much doubles. The Epropulsion Spirit PLUS does pretty much the same but has 40% more battery capacity so you should get roughly 2.5hrs at 2.5 knots. 6nm range at 2.5 knots might be enough to get you out of trouble to a safe anchorage, or if it's flat calm and the tide running hold you off a hazard while you wait for help.

Note these numbers are for a 1kW motor driving a 4 tonne yacht, these motors have much more range and speed on dinghies and dayboats! We've seen quite a few fitted now as main propulsion systems for daysailers in the 15-24 foot range such as Hawk 20, various Drascombes, Bay Raiders, etc.

Just for around the marina, the only thing to ensure is that the shaft is long enough, but that'd be obvious I know.
