Hi,

So I've opened a can of worms it seems.

I've replaced the old sea water pump with a new one. The old bolts were corroded and had to to be removed.

The NW and SW bolts are easy to fit and slot straight in. The NE bolt is a pain and has to be pushed in from behind (not as per the diagram below), and the water pump plate has a thread on it, but its in.

The SE bolt is the real issue, it also needs to be inserted from behind, but there's no feasible way of doing this without taking the engine mount off. The Volvo engineers should receive 50 lashes for this design flaw :(

I had to removed the old bolt with a dremel as it was corroded beyond recognition. The new pump doesn't seem to leak with 3 bolts in it, but I'd like to do the job properly.

Has anyone else had this issue?

is it a massive job getting someone to lift the engine? and removing the mount to insert the final screw?

Any help of advice would be welcome? or recommendations in Chatham/Ramsgate/Dover area on who could help me. Don't fancy messing up my shaft alignment doing this myself.

Thanks

Tim

ps to anyone in the future reading this, the diagram below is not correct, bolts no.6 face the other way, and its impossible to put them in as per the diagram. I'll update this post with a long description of the job on my blog when I get a moment.
