I mean properly on boat ??

Can actually report back their opinion on what they saw and experienced ...

I need a feel-good factor having spent so much !!

Every day there seems to be a new thread about these lowrances so somebody must have used one by now. Maybe they're crap and the person is too gutted to tell.

I got the h/h one on sat, I haven't used it on my boat yet but I will probly be this w/e so ill let u know how it performs next week. Presumably if the H/H one is good the 3500 will be better. If the H/H one is crap the 3500 may be ok still. Who knows? Ooooh the exitement is killing me.

If you weren't going to already start a new thread on monday to remind me on. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I ask and possibly start most threads on this machine because

It seemed that a few pople were remarking about them some week ago ... I checked out all over the web etc. found I could get same deal as Boat Show near enough without jostling at the show ... bought and then info dried up.

I'm itching to find out from others what they think of it after actually using ... I have a month to wait at least before I get to use mine ...

I bought one last year with Navionics Gold XL3 charts.
Great piece of kit.
Good screen, simple controls, accurate enough for inshore handling.
Would not be without it.

Tried mine out in Cardiff Bay in November (nice and sheltered in the winter)...went up the Ely River...the chart showed a road bridge...as I went under the bridge...the Navionics chart showed me under the bridge! Not bad eh..? Very good readability in the cockpit even with low winter sun in my eyes. I set the course display overlay to LARGE and it's a great steering compass. The rest of my observations on the unit are at home on my desk, or on the pontoon.

I have no doubt that this baby will lead me into all sorts or nooks and crannies in the Bristol Channel that I'd be wary of if I had to go down below to the chart table all the time to plot a GPS position. And that's where I think the Navionics charts score well (at least in theory!!).

Yes - fitted mine after last LBS and have found it pretty good, having used it for about 3800 miles last year, using Navionics XL3 Super.

Strongest point is the beacon which is 1st class, the screen is undersized for anything but short-range detail work, software is good, especially you have the software update.

Only dog is the awful tide-height component - I've never bothered to use it but have heard reports that it's NU.

Screen is clear and I scarcely never need to use more than the lowest lighting level, it's size (the only grouse about it) was dictated by the lack of room for a 2nd set.
