Just had a look at Sat's chart and if the whopping great low moves a smidgeon east, there could be carnage at the Needles & St Catherine's .. has an RTI ever been cancelled?

As I am going to France I am watching this one with great interest. Any signs of the higher winds forecast in Plymouth moving east and I will invoke my skippers wimp out clause and we will be diverting. I guess tacking along the south side in the SE wind against tide will make the trip bouncy for some once the flood starts

Looking at the Friday and Sunday charts, that Low seems to be heading North up the West of Ireland towards Iceland, and the English Channel looks OK.

However, You could be right - if it moves a smidgeon (albeit a biggun') to the East it could come into play.

Definitely need to keep an eye on it.

Should make my 7 year old daughters Optimist class fun!

Re: Excitment in an oppie

I would think so!
In my experience, when oppies capsize (which isn't very common,) they are extremely hard to right. Hope there is a safety boat on hand!

I put far more trust in Theyr these days, but it's only just creeping into Sat predictions now (00:45 24th). It's great strength is that it doesn't try to do predictions beyond the art of the probable, even though 5 day predictions would be nice. It's predictions have changed a fair bit in the past 12 hours so keep watching

Yeah, I had just hit 'Continue' when I realised I was being a prat (more than usual) - brain still wasn't in gear at the time.

It would have been the Sunday chart, when Snowleopard posted the link.

I also knew it wouldn't take you more than half an hour to correct me !!

Anyway, every cloud has a silver lining - your chart shows a massive area of high pressure in mid-Atlantic. Hopefully that will be heading in our direction for next week.

I'm sitting here in Kalmar (Sweden) public library, looking at the same graphs and thanking my lucky stars that I chose the Baltic for my summer cruise!
