Does anyone know why the Harwich AW lifeboat went up the Orwell at full chat at around 11.00 on Thursday? Causing a minor tsunami and returning about 10 minutes later at a similar speed. Harwich VTS put out a Securite Securite warning of wash being created. But why go at the same speed down river as up? Why was the Walton AW lifeboat manoeuvring off SYH at the same time?

Walton LB AIS track indicates it had towed vessel from east of the South Galloper to Levington, confirmed by their FB page

There were two separate incidents. The first involved the towing in of a vessel that was taking on water by the HHA with the Harwich ILB in attendance. Unfortunately one of the ILB crew was taken ill and had to be transferred to the Harwich Severn Class boat presumably for medical attention. The Walton Tamar Class boat brought in another vessel that had engine problems very shortly after. I have no news on the RNLI crew member but I'm sure we all wish him well. There were no other casualties.
