Hartlepool Marina

Is anyone based out of Hartlepool or nearby on the East Coast please?

Just interested in how you find the Marina and cruising area?

Facilities look good, access apppears good but varying comments on parking. And whilst the cruising from there is extensive when time allows, how do you find days and weekends out, plenty to do and worth seeing?

We sail out of the Tyne, about 25 miles up the coast from Hartlepool and have visited the Hartlepool marina.
There appears to be plenty of space once in the marina although, the approach depth was less than we expected based on the charts and website.
There are plenty of bars adjacent to the marina, which could be a good or bad thing depending on your point of view.
The area and local coastline is very industrial and not scenic because of that. Cruising to the south has an anchorage at Runswick bay, before reaching Whitby and Scarborough within 25 to 35 miles. Heading north you can stop off at the Wear or Tyne, picking quiet berths if interested or finding the Newcastle city quay for nightlife.
Continuing another 25miles north, the scenery improves and you’ll reach Amble, a sill controlled marina. After that there is some of the best Northumbrian coastline with castles and anchorages up to the Farnes and Lindisfarne.
