Harleyford Marina's new lagoon

As a current Harleyford moorer, it's great to see the new basin gradually approaching completion, as can be seen from the attached photo - which has just been released.

It doesn't look huge - the photo is deceptive - for example the base of the reversed 'L' (bottom right) is some 35m long, and the perimeter is some 800 metres long. There's room for some 170 boats from 7 -20m in length.

All berths have water and 240V power, plenty of car parking (the blobs at the head of the photo are two further parking areas awaiting treatment. There's further landscaping with grass, shrubs and trees to come.

It will be open to boats from 1st. April with an official opening in mid April.

Thats a pretty large capacity increase between two rather small locks !!

I would expect Hurley and Temple to be quite severe bottlenecks in nicer weather. Once above Hurley it will be easier obviously and same goes for below Temple. Will definitely put extra pressure on Marlow visitor moorings I would have thought. I've often wondered whats going on with the no mooring bit past higginson meadow. You can moor for a couple of hundred yards up from the little bridge but then suddenly no mooring. Seems to me if this was opened up as a mooring (a bit of a wild mooring) it would be helpful.

Yes there is that I suppose. £425 per metre per year is quite a bit but I suppose some people will be happy to sit on the boat in the marina as you say. Fair enough.

Yep, thats why we like it, we are one of the five boats, nearly always traverse Hurley or Temple on our own!

The area you are talking about is owned by the owner of the "house's" opposite. He does not want is view spoilt by moorers.

Also currently at Harleyford and looking forward to moving into the new marina. Shouldn't create to much extra traffic as some of the current Harleyford are being moved from the island and moved from infront of the house. Well lets hope so anyway!!!
