Hardy's new 65' on the move

Finally. It was supposed to be exhibited at SIBS last year. From the pics I've seen this 65 is certainly a step up from the 62 that was launched 3 yrs ago and wasnt universally well received.

Anyone know if they are planning to exhibit the 65 at any shows this year?

Don't know Mike, but I know they do watch the forum so may let us know...

I do know the interior has had a complete redesign by Windboats interior chap as hull 1 was built under Mark Funnell / Hardy ownership. They have very high hopes for it although hull 2 is a sold order.

I was getting email updates from them until the middle of last year and they they dried up and the 62 is still listed on their website as a current model. Lets hope they're better at building boats than marketing them:D

Seriously though, the 65 looks like the boat the 62 should have been

I did feel for them a bit with the 62 as although Windboats didn't take it on when they bought Hardy the boat was out there as a selling tool and it was spec'ed by a Russian who unusually liked a pretty sombre interior, then pulled out the deal.

This 65 is starting afresh. Always remembered Jack Haines thought the drive of the 62 was amazing, matched with a new interior design I hope they do really well with it as the guys at Windboats are really nice people... even if they have stopped any marketing!

Yep, looks nice. I really hope Hardy have got it right with hull #2 and that this model is successful. Jury is out of course - it is easy to blame "the Russian" for the screw ups on hull #1 but Hardy were surely responsible for some of them and he might even have pulled out because of the horror story he saw unfolding before his eyes. But here's hoping it is a fantastic boat. It certainly looks good.

(Nice trailer too - I'm deeply familiar with that one :D)

I'm sure the 65 will do well. There was always a good boat trying to get out of the 62. Maybe they dont need to do any marketing if they've got an order book stretching out well into the future;)
Btw does anyone know what the 65 costs now?

Yup, agreed.
Can't remember, did the 62 have fin stabs already? The 65' in the video clearly shows their plates, amidship under the hull.

Dunno about the 62 but the 65 comes with Sleipner fins as standard apparently

I just saw the spec and pictures on the website. Looks very nice - a world apart from hull #1. The fins look surprisingly forward, but I guess they'll be ok. It will be at the jersey boat show apparently (end of April) and I'm planning to be there

Funny that you should mention it.
My impression while looking at the video was, if anything, a bit of the opposite...

PS: did you just look at the pic in the webpage linked, by chance? I would think that's actually misleading.
You can better judge the position from the video, though that's still a bit of a guess anyhow, of course.

Daughter has been past the yard and says it is a very nice looking boat.

Whilst I wasn't keen on some elements of the first one I didn't think it was as bad as some say - had a good look over it at SIBS and had a long chat with the Windboats guy. No question that the Russian buyer had an influence but as SWMBO always used to say, Mark knew his stuff when it came to building boats but he didn't have the 'woman's touch' when it came to interiors. I think she may well have had that conversation with him in the bar :)

Personally I like the interiors of Hardy boats of that era and was less keen on the later 42 with the aft cockpit. Each to their own I guess :)

I was told that Mark kept most of his ideas to himself, or in his head, and when he died his team were left floundering when it came to completing that first boat.

Yes, I heard that too. I always got the impression that he was at the heart of things, very hands on and effectivley the driving force but never a good idea for any outfit to have all its eggs in one basket.

She is at the jersey boat show this weekend. I made an impromptu preview day visit yesterday ( to the fairline stand only; I didn't go on the hardy)

She looked very good. Annoyingly small diameter s/s tube for the guard rails and too low flybridge windscreen but otherwise looked very good from the outside.

Thought she might be headed to Jersey. Was sitting at RNSYC in Lowestoft last weekend so I took a couple of pics. Looked very nice and I quite like the grey hull.
