Hardy pilot boat

Hi there have a Hardy pilot boat with wetness/ dampness in the tank like part that acts as bouncy if the main hull is breached. The boat is 30 years old so not shocked but I'm wondering how detrimental this might be to the longevity of her and if any has had any similar experiences. Thank you.
 
Only 30? Nearly new then. If you mean the space under the cockpit floor I never thought that was really intended to be buoyancy, just a sealed space. Anyway we had a Pilot for years and it was always damp and nasty in there.

Thanks for your message wombat88. That's really what I wanted to hear! I was worried it might have rot through or might have in the future. So 30yrs is young?! I've kept hearing how they have great build quality which is why I've made it my first boat. She is gorgeous. Stood out among all the other boats in the yard.

Sorry just to add I mean in the cavity/ space near the transom with a screw type cap. Might be unique to my particular model
 
The large screw cap near the transom you refer to is normal. it just gives access to the lowest part of the boat in case of water ingress. I keep a long length of one inch hose in there ready to connect to my hand operated bilge pump that is situated close by. The hardy pilots are lovely little boats, much admired by many.
If in the UK, what area are you in?

Yeah cheers I'm learning more about it all the time. Was just a bit concerned with it being all wet and grotty when I stuck my hand in.

I'm on the maidstone part of the medway. How about yourself?

Back up outboard, spare fuel, lifejacket, vhf and go.
Not many places to moor up once past chatham maritime, public pier by rochester bridge, one further down closed to access land, but you can moor up.
Lots to see.
