I fancy putting a grp doghouse ( correct name ?) on my Mac 26 - I think the boat is large enough to take one, but I don't have a clue who to ontact to make one - any ideas would be welcome.

I think this will be quite an expensive project to pay someone to do. If it has already been done and moulds are available then cost is a lot less.
For DIY you would make up a mock up out of plywood chipboard etc. You would finish off (smooth) the outside then use the mock up to make a female mould. This should be reinforced with steel or similar outide to make it hold correct shape. Don't forget to make mounting flanges to the deck. This stage determines the overall finish and success of the project.
From there you lay up the final GRP using foam or balsa in large flat areas to get stiffness. When set remove from the mould and cut out the holes for windows and finally fit to the boat. A lot of work yet probably quite satisfying. If you cna find another owner to buy one from you you could share the costs and work. good luck olewill

Thanks both your replies, I think the initial and biggest problem will be getting a pattern made up and I've chap in mind who may be up for it - I'll have to start looking at similar boats for ideas now.

The game's afoot Watson !

A chum of mine had a ply one made for her bilge keel Westerly which was glassed over after construction. Making a plug and then moulding up a doghouse from it seems like almost double the work; OK if you want to pruduce a batch of them. Wansworth's suggestion of glassed over foam is well worth looking at as I'd guess the foam is far easier to work than ply. Oldsaltoz would have some first hand advice but haven't heard from him for a while
