Hard Racing A/F and going faster

This year I have used Plastimo 1.2 antifoul.

It’s shiny and does not seem to come off as self eroding types do. In ten year’s with this boat, I have never known it to be faster than it is now. Perhaps being a long keeler and large wetted surface has something to do with it ?

There must be a down side . Can someone please tell me what it is. Or is this a well kept secret ?

One of the down sides is that over a period of years you'll have a lot of layers of old a/f to scrape off as it's a hard and not self eroding a/f.

You'll probably have to scrub weed off more often as no erosion means no weed coming off with the top surface.

If you scrub your boat, or use the BoatScrubbers that are turning up all over the place, hard racing AF doesn't get scrubbed off like the eroding sort.
