Re: It\'s all gone quiet over there!

Bored.

4 x 80Kg adults = 320 Kg
Kit listed = 46Kg
Assorted other stuff (wetsuits, lifejackets, drinks, almanac etc) = 50Kg (trust me)

Generously, 400Kg.
Add 25litres of spare fuel = 25Kg

Now add 75 litres of water over the side/transom due to a freak wave...

Happy consider one thing alot of people have given you some sound and legitimate advice here, we all saw what you had on board at the weekend and no argument is going to detract from the point tcm made that you are dangarously overloaded. You enjoyed the meet at the weekend im sure but take into account one thing safety at sea is paramount and while cruising together in groups we look out for each other , if you get into trouble you would expect your fellow boaters to come to your aid and they would ,but if you are putting your safety at risk then your putting your possible rescuers at risk also, and if your going to flout the advice of these people maybe you should not attend these meets for our safety.

Re: At least we tried

Peter, I was being tactful. I knew what was coming you didn't, you've never been there before. Ask Will how the ride got smoother when I took over. A lot different from when you were doing the balls out blast it as fast as you can bit. The boat was too bow heavy. This was confirmed by the way the outdrive trim only had a minor effect on the boats trim in the near max up position. Loaded correctly it should have been pointing the bow skywards!

I was surprised that col said to follow him over. His waterline length is probably nearer 3 times of yours. So he can travel faster in the same conditions. The pounding your boat was getting and the comments of "we saw you dissapear in the water" must have told you something. The boat won't stand upto it for long. In time it'll show the signs of stress.

I'm not putting you down. Its just that you need to go through the learning curve we all did. As you said, its the second time that you've been out to sea! I was lucky enough to grow up with boats. My parents had boats and I learnt a lot from first hand experience. Enjoy the boat for what it is. Mines not alot bigger than yours. We enjoy it alot. We've even been across channel in it.

So as far as "ripping the wheel outta your hands". Yes your right I felt like doing it a lot sooner, so I suspect, did Will. I thought I'd see if you scared yourself with a bigger wave or two over the screen, you were lucky. One smallish one and I took that in the face. You were travelling too fast for the conditions and the boat!

After all that has been said to you ad nauseam, why don't you quit risking your child's life and leave him/her with a baby sitter when you take to the water?

I note that in the "Confession thread" refering to a large pump he has just bought, H1 says

"I will only use it on longer trips like the CI cruise in a few weeks time."

I think it's all on deaf ears...

Is the baby coming on the CI cruise? Maybe a baby sitter would be the best idea, its very hard work otherwise.

Re: Happy, your boat\'s becoming dangerously overloaded

<<dream>>

My 10 year old, on the way to school, started (note started) a conversation on existential philosophy. After a pause (I was a bit slow, it was only 7:45), he then said 'But Daddy, if we dont know whether life is a dream, how do we know that it might be our dream, and not a part of someone elses dream?'.

When we got to school, I nabbed the PSE (or whatever mumbo jumbo name they have these days), and suggested that they might like to answer his questions in classroom discussion!

Hey, Haydn, I obviously should have been more specific about the baby/babysitter, knowing your command of English:) Sorry!
