I see on the other forum they are getting the pistons caught in their panties about the potential price hike for LPG and possibly red diesel. Wonder if this is the beginning of the end?

I\'m still none the wiser

Unless you are referring to my tongue in cheek reaction to the post about LPG prices.

The Voy forum went the in-joke route and died a death, beware.

nope, they started off unpleasant to everyone else and were left alone with each other. Could you consider a different tack here perhaps?

tcm & co

I unreservedly apologise, no offence intended.

Although on a serious point about complaints about price increases on fuel and costs of marinas, etc, I'd say we are a group of priviledged people who have the good fortune to be able to pursue our leisure actvities and as such will be seen by the outside world as well-heeled moaners.

Shall I now walk around the forum with a sandwich board around my neck?

Re: tcm & co

Ok,now thats sorted .What can we do to keep our red?So we do not use as much of the stuff as a MoBo, we still use it and i for one do not relish a trip across the water every time i want to fill up.
Maybe Sealand could open a fuel barge. Now that would cause a stink!

Red or dead

If you're worried about the price of diesel on a sailyyot, turn the engine off. My fuel bill this year is approx £15. Even if price trebled because no red, it wouldn't be a ball-breaker.

Re: Red or dead

Time , tide , the restraints of un paid holidays and no wind made it nessary to motor to and from Holland year (plus the motoring in the canals but i will not include this).
As for anyone like myself (short handed with 2 young children )whos marina is at the end of a long and narrow river/muddy ditch, motoring out when the wind and time and /or tide is against you as one of them usually are, motoring is the only reasonable option.(SWMBO thinks going home is the reasonable option). This takes an average of three hours to clear the river.I use a gallon an hour, thats aprox 13.64 liters.
X £0.80 (local village)£10.91 to get out the river.Only a fiver more but thats a bottle of wine or a meal on the other side. Multiply that by say fifteen hours and it starts to make a difference.

What can I say?

Not a lot, I've just returned from the Xmas do here. It seems that none of my somewhat younger compatriots have come to appreciate the joys of 13.5% proof Australian sparkler, so I had to drink it for them.

Happy Xmas
