Could you please advise as to what I can expect from my boat Insurance in respect of obtaining help with repairs, surveyors involvement, time span for claim to be settled or repairs authorised.

This is a very serious question and I really do appreciate any facts/experiences you can offer.

Many thanks

Does it make that much of a difference which company you chose? What would be my minimum expectations then?

Thank

It makes a big difference which company you are with how they will treat you, but now I see your point. Expect an insurance company to give you immediate assistance, when needed, including appointing a yard to make the vessel safe in an accident, appointing a surveyor, straight away and arranging any quotes needed. They, if a good one will also help with accomadation if necessary and legal stuff aswell, dependant on what type of cover you have. I insure with Pantaenius, I like them and they have been very helpful to people I know who have had claims, I would get some of the companies brochures or have a look online for them and see what they offer in way of cover, also ask them the questions you are asking here. I expect a lot for the not inconsiderable amount I pay each year. But only when I need it. I had a good look around, then got mine and I've stayed with them, I don't chop and change each year. I'd advise the same.

Due to present problem I can't say too much, but would suggest checking other options...Navigator and General perform very well in Spain, even for liveaboards such as us having a surveyor do EVERYTHING for you.

I will contact you via personal message on or after 31st. December as I hope matter will be resolved by then otherwise it will be a court case.
